City Lodgings has been around for a few years now. As a company we feel it is extremely important to keep pushing forward and trying to improve the way we run the company and our guests experience. Our website portrays our image to our guests and hopefully when you visit, you get the friendly feel we set out to achieve. However we are also aware of how quickly things change and how peoples ideas of fresh and new evolve. With this in mind we thought it would be a good idea to overhaul the site this year and implement some of the changes we had identified that would enable us to iron out some of our shortfalls. This new site will in no way alter our image of a small friendlyservice. We spent a long time trying to establish this ‘feel’ to the company and it’s very important to us to retain this.

The aim of the overhaul will be to present an easy to navigate clearly understandable site from which our guests can find out anything they need to know in regard to individualapartments – size, layout, location, cost etc. There will be virtual tours and extensive galleries of each apartment. Guests will also be able to follow us on twitter and other social network sites. This will keep you up to date on special offers, local what’s on guides and this will also give you a forum to feed back to us so we can improve ourservice.

Earlier this year we announced the launch of our newonline booking facility. This has been met with limited enthusiasm by people who have found us online. We have seen this as somewhat of a trial period for online booking and as a result of guest feedback and our own trials with the booking package, we believe we can do better. The serviced accommodation industry is still quite young and as such there isn’t a booking facility available that caters specifically for us. They tend to fall the way of hotels and self catering holiday lets. So, we are currently working closely with our web design and SEO specialists atBrightIcon to develop a completely new system to be built in conjunction with the site overhaul. We anticipate this taking until the end of the year, but we’ll keep you posted with developments.

This is a quick note to say hello again to all the swimming groups. This will be the third year we have had the pleasure of providingaccommodation to these rising stars of the pool and their families.

We get the sense that the swimming fraternity is quite a close knit one and sharing a common pursuit, the natural sense of camaraderie shines through. Hopefully this year we’ll get the weather and you’ll all be able to do a little more socializing in the barbecue area at the back of theCorporation Buildings.

This will mean that you can visit our website, viewour apartments and then subject to availability, book immediately to ensure your place. This will cut down on the time between finding your ideal apartment and contacting our staff, ensuring the best possible chance to secure your place.

All the usualCity Lodgings services will be available to you and this doesn’t mean an end to meeting and greeting our guests. We realize that it is not always practical to make bookings during office hours or at weekends, this just gives you the freedom of choice.City Lodgings staff will still be on hand to answer any of your questions or deal with anything you might need. Ponds Forge International swimming venue has established itself as a centre for excellence in the swimming fraternity. The facilities are second to none and this reflects in the level of competition that the pool supports. AtCity Lodgings we have been lucky enough to provideaccommodation for the athletes and their families throughout all the events this year. OurCorporation Buildings proximity to Ponds Forge ( 5 minute walk) makes it an ideal location for competitors. We are already filling up for competitions in January, March/April and July/August. With a raft of repeat bookings from earlier this year we are quickly running out of space for these slots. If you anticipate needing anapartment around this time, you need to get in quickly to ensure you take advantage of our location.

Another event synonymous with Sheffield is the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible Theater. (17th April - 3rd May). For the last couple of years we have providedaccommodation for the camera crews and associated staff. Again this is an extremely busy time for us so to avoid missing out it is wise to get in early. Ourcity centre location makes it a short stroll for any snooker fan to the Crucible (5 mins walk ). Or if you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town, we haveapartments away from thecity centre but close to the ring road allowing easy access into the city.
